Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 September 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and Sturdy Design Ltd (Company No. 16392634), a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Motorbike Check ("we", "our", "us", or "the Service"). By accessing and using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.

Motorbike Check provides history checks for motorbikes, scooters, mopeds and trikes registered in the UK: a free check built from DVLA and DVSA (MOT) records, and a paid Vehicle History Check that adds provenance data (outstanding finance, write-off, stolen markers, mileage anomalies and more) supplied by Experian.

2. Service Description

2.1 What We Provide

Motorbike Check offers the following:

  • Free Motorbike Check (no charge): DVLA vehicle details, tax and MOT status, and full MOT history with a mileage timeline, for any UK-registered motorbike. It is provided free of charge, without warranty, and is not a substitute for the paid check.
  • Vehicle History Check (£9.99): outstanding finance check, insurance write-off and salvage history, police and insurance stolen-vehicle markers, mileage anomaly indicators, plate and colour change history, keeper history, high-risk markers, MOT history and DVLA vehicle details. Provenance data is sourced from Experian.
  • Lifetime access to purchased reports via unique URLs and your account dashboard.

2.2 What We Do NOT Provide

Our reports do not include:

  • Service or maintenance records (dealer or independent)
  • Accident or damage history outside of insurance write-off records
  • Vehicle valuation, condition or inspection services
  • Title or ownership transfer guarantees

The Vehicle History Check is a snapshot of third-party records at the time the report was generated and is not a guarantee of clear title.

3. Service Limitations

3.1 Coverage Limitations

  • Vehicles: motorbikes, scooters, mopeds and trikes registered with the DVLA, identified by their UK registration number
  • Geographic coverage: UK-registered vehicles; imported or very recently registered vehicles may have limited history
  • Free check: depends on the availability of the DVLA and DVSA services at the time of your request; where one is unavailable the result says so

3.2 Third-Party Data Sources

The information in our reports is sourced from third-party data providers, including but not limited to:

  • Experian — finance agreements, write-off and salvage data, stolen-vehicle records and indemnity cover
  • Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) — vehicle registration, tax and basic vehicle data
  • Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) — MOT history and vehicle recall data
  • Police National Computer (PNC) — police stolen-vehicle records, accessed via authorised providers
  • Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register (MIAFTR) — insurance stolen-vehicle records, accessed via authorised providers

We do not own, control, or verify the accuracy of data held by these third-party sources. The information we provide is only as accurate and complete as the data supplied to us by these providers.

3.3 Data Accuracy Caveats

Important — please read this section carefully. While we endeavour to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we make no warranties, representations or guarantees (whether express, implied or statutory) regarding the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any third-party data; whether the information is current or has been updated by our data providers; the absence of errors, omissions or inaccuracies; or whether all relevant information about a vehicle has been reported to the appropriate databases.

Reasons why data may be incomplete or inaccurate include:

  • Not all finance agreements are registered with finance databases
  • Stolen vehicles may not be reported to police, or may be reported with incorrect details
  • Write-offs may not be recorded if not claimed through insurance
  • There may be delays between events occurring and data being updated in third-party databases
  • Historical records may be incomplete, especially for older vehicles
  • Human error in data entry at any point in the data chain
  • Vehicles imported from outside the UK may have limited history

Our reports should be used as one part of your due diligence when purchasing a motorbike, not as the sole basis for your decision. Always conduct a physical inspection, verify documents (V5C, MOT certificates, service history) and consider an independent mechanical check before purchase.

3.4 Experian Data Guarantee and Indemnity

Certain data within the Vehicle History Check — outstanding finance, stolen status and insurance write-off information — is provided by Experian. Experian offers indemnity cover in relation to that data, subject to the current Experian Data Guarantee terms. The cover amount and term that applies to a specific report is shown in the "Indemnity" section of that report.

This guarantee and any associated indemnity coverage is provided directly by Experian, not by Sturdy Design Ltd. We do not administer, process or handle any indemnity claims. Any claims under this guarantee must be made directly to Experian in accordance with their procedures, and are subject to specific conditions and exclusions set by Experian.

4. Pricing and Payment

4.1 Service Fees

Our current prices are:

  • Free Motorbike Check: free
  • Vehicle History Check: £9.99 per motorbike

Each fee is a one-time payment providing lifetime access to the resulting report. We may from time to time offer returning customers a reduced price for further checks; the price shown at checkout is the price you pay.

4.2 Payment Processing

  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • We accept major credit and debit cards
  • Payment must be completed before report generation
  • All prices include applicable UK VAT

4.3 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect orders already paid for.

5. Refund Policy

We offer refunds when we are unable to generate your report. The Vehicle History Check incurs a per-check cost payable by us to Experian as soon as data is returned. Because of this, refunds are not provided once a report has been successfully generated and delivered — including where the report shows no adverse markers, or where you are dissatisfied with the contents. By completing your purchase, you acknowledge that the absence of adverse records is itself the information you are paying for.

5.1 Full Refund Cases

You will receive a full refund of the amount paid (£9.99 at our standard price) in the following scenarios:

  • No data retrieved: Experian and our other providers were unable to return any data for the registration you provided.
  • Technical failure: a fault on our end, or with our data providers, prevented your report from being generated or delivered.
  • Duplicate charge: you were charged more than once for the same report, whether through a system error or an accidental repeat purchase within a short timeframe.
  • Incorrect registration entered by us: we processed a registration different from the one you submitted at checkout.

In these cases: where our systems detect the failure, the refund is issued automatically and you are emailed; otherwise we process it within 24-48 hours of your request.

5.2 No Refund Cases

We cannot offer refunds in the following situations:

  • Report Generated Successfully: once your report has been generated and delivered, no refund applies — including where it shows no outstanding finance, no write-off and no stolen marker. A clean result is the outcome the check exists to confirm.
  • User Error - Incorrect Registration: if you enter the wrong registration and we successfully generate a report for that registration, no refund is available. The service was provided correctly based on the registration you submitted. Tip: the registration is shown on the checkout page before you pay — double-check it, or run the free check on it first to see the make and model the DVLA holds.
  • Change of Mind After Viewing Report: once you've accessed and viewed the report, you cannot request a refund simply because you changed your mind. The service has been delivered.
  • Disagreement with Third-Party Data: dissatisfaction with information sourced from third-party databases is not grounds for a refund (see Section 3.3). Cover for certain Experian-supplied data is provided by Experian under Section 3.4.
  • Third-Party Issues Beyond Our Control: if you cannot access your report due to email filtering, spam blocks, or internet connectivity issues on your end, no refund is available. We can resend your report link to resolve access issues.

5.3 Refund Request Process

To request a refund:

  1. Email us at hello@motorbikecheck.com within 30 days of purchase
  2. Include the registration and the email address used for the order
  3. Briefly explain why you're requesting a refund
  4. We will review your request within 24-48 hours
  5. If approved, refunds are processed via Stripe and appear on your card within 5-10 business days

5.4 Refund Approval

Refunds are approved at our discretion based on the criteria outlined above. We reserve the right to investigate suspicious refund requests or patterns of abuse. Our full Refund Policy explains each case in more detail.

6. User Responsibilities

By using our Service, you agree to:

  • Provide an accurate registration number
  • Use the Service for lawful purposes only
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer or abuse our systems
  • Not use automated tools to make bulk requests
  • Keep your report URLs secure (they grant access to anyone with the link)
  • Not share or resell reports for commercial purposes without permission

7. Intellectual Property

The reports we generate are for your personal use. You own the right to use your purchased report for:

  • Verifying a motorbike before purchase
  • Sharing with a buyer when selling your motorbike
  • Personal record-keeping

However, the Motorbike Check website, branding, and software remain our intellectual property.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We provide reports "as is" based on third-party database information
  • We are not liable for decisions you make based on report information
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not liable for losses arising from inaccuracies, errors or omissions in data supplied to us by third-party providers (including Experian, DVLA, DVSA and other sources listed in Section 3.2)
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant report
  • Indemnity cover relating to Experian-supplied data is provided by Experian directly, as described in Section 3.4, and is outside our liability
  • We do not warrant that third-party databases are complete or error-free

Important: Our service is one tool for evaluating a motorbike. Always conduct a physical inspection, test ride where possible, and consider an independent mechanical check before purchasing a used bike.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason
  • Terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms
  • Discontinue the Service at any time (with reasonable notice)

Reports you've already purchased will remain accessible even if we discontinue the Service generally.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Before pursuing legal action, we encourage you to contact us at hello@motorbikecheck.com to resolve issues amicably.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via:

  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Email notification to recent customers
  • Notice on our homepage

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Contact Information

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us:

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Motorbike Check regarding use of the Service.
